Lusitanian releases “Terra Livre” by O Gajo & Ricardo Vignini

The first meeting between the Portuguese artists João Morais, better known as O GAJO, and the Brazilian Ricardo Vignini took place in 2022, via social media.

A musical tune activated a first contact, with the participation of Vignini on the album Não Lugar, from 2023, by O GAJO, and which quickly became a regular exchange of ideas and the desire to cross the two artistic and cultural worlds that characterize these players: O GAJO as the Portuguese innovator playing the Viola Campaniça, and Vignini playing the Viola Caipira – a Brazilian descendent of the Portuguese Chordophones.

This harmony brought them closer and the exchange of ideas, via the digital world, began to give rise to a consistent work, which they decided to transform into a collaborative album, called Terra Livre, or “Free Land / Free Earth”. The exploratory, free and open territory of Ricardo and João, where they expand their creative horizons without pre-defined formulas or rules. Terra Livre has, however, a second layer: its is a cry for Freedom, in a world full of intolerance.
